As its mission, the Kranich Museum commissions and collects works of contemporary art that use the house, the surrounding landscape, and their histories as points of departure. Artists in the collection use media ranging from painting and sculpture to sound, video, and performance to interpret these rich and specific surroundings. Opened in the fall of 2011 under the curatorial direction of Alex Schweder and Khadija Zinnenburg Carroll, 2015 welcomes a new curator, Zsuzsanna Stanitz.
